New build dwelling, Marple

Our client saw an opportunity to use part of his garden to the side of his end terrace to create a new dwelling and asked 4mation architecture to develop an idea of what was possible.

The building is within one of Stockport’s conservation areas so the design had to respect the neighboring properties. In terms of form we simply ‘extruded’ the terrace but to finish it we decided to render the new dwelling with a cream colour to reflect the neighboring stone properties.

The local planning authority and conservation officer agreed this was an appropriate way to proceed and granted planning permission and conservation area consent. The project was then taken through the building regulation and construction stages.

The new dwelling is now complete and took approx 11 months to complete. Contract value circa £100k.
